NHS Digital Data Sharing Opt Out

We would like to reassure our patients that the proposed extraction of GP data by NHS Digital does NOT include any patients registered at this practice, or elsewhere in NHS Scotland. NHS Digital provide services in NHS England only, and are not able to access any data held in Scotland. You are not required to opt out as your data is already safe. We take patient confidentially extremely seriously, and safeguards are already in place to protect this, including when  data is used for medical research.

Further information on how NHS Scotland handles your personal information is on the NHS Inform website.

The Scottish Government have now written to all patients aged 65-74 inviting them to attend for their covid vaccination.

If you are aged 65-74 and have not yet received a letter from the Scottish Government or if you have mislaid your invite, please follow the following link to progress your appointment.

If you are aged under 65 please do not use this link as invites are still being sent out for this age group and you will be contacted in due course.

Please do not contact the practice with any queries regarding the mass vaccination programme as we are unable to assist with these. You will find all the information you need on the NHS inform website.

Across Lothian, vaccination of the following groups of people is taking place at GP Practices:

  •    People over 80 years of age
  •    People aged  75-79
  •    People who are clinically extremely vulnerable (shielding)

If you or your relative or someone you care for is in this groups you / they will receive an invitation  from us, by phone to have your vaccination here at the practice.

We understand that there is concern that some people in this cohort have not yet been invited for vaccination either at the practice or at home.

You may also be concerned that someone you know in a lower priority group has been invited to be vaccinated at a mass vaccination centre ahead of your own vaccination appointment.

Invitations to mass vaccination centres are being administered nationally and are separate to the GP programme.  Those letters can be sent out quite far ahead of appointments.  Our contact with you will be much closer to the date of  your appointment.

However, we can assure you we are vaccinating as fast as vaccine supplies allow and everyone eligible for vaccination here will be invited to attend.

  •    People over 80 will be vaccinated by 5 February 2021.
  •    People aged 75-79 and people who are clinically extremely vulnerable will be vaccinated  by 15 February 2021

We are very grateful for your patience while you wait your turn.

NHS Inform

Thank You,

We are delighted to have started our COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics.

GPs have been asked to provide vaccines for those aged 80 and over, moving on to those aged 75 – 79 and then those who are shielding.

You can find out more about the priority groups by clicking here

All other groups will be offered appointments via Health Board run services by letter.

The delivery of the vaccine is in small batches and we are not certain when these will arrive. As soon as we have supplies of vaccine our team will contact you to arrange an appointment.

There is no need for you to contact the practice as we will be in touch with those eligible.  If you have any questions about the COVID Vaccine, please visit NHS Inform by clicking here, or call the national helpline 0800 030 8013 which is open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

If you have a general query about the COVID-19 vaccine, please look on the NHS
Inform website or use the national helpline 0800 030 8013 which is open from 8am to
8pm, seven days a week.

On behalf of the practice we would like to thank our patients over 80 that we contacted to attend for their Covid vaccine on Saturday 9th January.  We are delighted at how successful the first clinic ran. Many thanks to our wonderful staff for helping to deliver the clinic.

If you are over 80 and have not yet been contacted for your vaccine WE will be in touch with you in the coming weeks 💉

The practice will be involved in vaccinating over 80 year olds but all others will be part of a major public campaign led by Lothian Health Board.

Please avoid calling with any general queries about the COVID-19 vaccine as we are unable to give you any more information at this stage and we need to try and keep phone-lines open for people who are unwell and needing medical care.

Many thanks for your ongoing patience and cooperation.

When you call to make an appointment the receptionist will ask you for a brief reason why you feel you need to be seen to enable them to direct you to the quickest and best way to meeting your needs.

There are many health problems which do not need a doctor or nurse and can be dealt with by another health professional (as detailed below)

Reception staff, like all members of the practice team, are bound by confidentiality. Any information given by you is treated as strictly confidential.

Providing this information will help us to help you

Thank you for your support

Lammermuir Medical Practice- Signposting Guide

New Patient Registrations

With all the new houses in East Lothian the 3 practices in Newton port surgery are working with the health board to develop our services to cope with an increase of up to 3000 new patients over the next few years.  The Newton Port building houses 3 separate GP surgeries (Tyne, Orchard, and Lammermuir medical practices).  There is a notice at reception directing new patients to register with a preferred surgery each week.  This will change on a weekly rotation to ensure the three practices all grow in size at about the same rate.  New patients are of course entitled to register with any of the 3 practices at any time if they wish.

Welcome to Lammermuir Medical Practice

With patient’s needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

H.I.L.D.A website

New website from the East Lothian Health and Social care website which aims to provide information on local services and practical adaptations to help people remain independent at home.  Lots of info on appliances that are available such as stair lifts, key safes, Telecare alarms and much more.
